Civilisations of the Rockies/West Coast in pre-colonial America

One of the regions of the world that I don't think get enough love is the Rockies and the West coast, at least in terms of timelines and discussions. In my experience, this is due to a shortage of knowledge on the area (or at least, known knowledge).

I was wondering if anyone here had much knowledge of this region in the pre-Colombian era? As far as I know, once you get beyond the Aztecs you have the Pueblo then terra incognita et nullus.

-Look into Owen's Valley Paiute Agricultural development and obsidian trade
-Read about the "grease trails" of the PNW
-Read "tending the wild" and anything Nancy J. Turner

I've read a lot on the Northwest Coast (since that's my interest), but I admit I'm clueless as towards any societies south of Oregon.
