[Cinema AH] - Where could you place "Hollywood"?

Or to be more clear, where could a "Hollywood", that is to say a North American cinema capital, be based instead of California? Obviously you'd need Edison to stop being such a patent dick to keep New York City as that capital, but could somewhere like Vancouver come into play, or somewhere else on the Pacific Coast? Or how about somewhere in Texas, or elsewhere in the south of the country?

Most realistically somewhere in SoCal, on the coast for scenery/weather reasons. ATLs diverging earlier have a limited chance to place it in TJ if the US owns Baja.

I would vote for St. Louis.
Four seasons without being too extreme. Easy to travel to the Prairie for westerns or to Chicago for city shoots.
You do miss out on ocean locales.

Maybe Norfolk or Annapolis area?

Basically Los Angeles turned out to be the most logical place for the film industry.
First there was the railroad access to back east.
Second great year round weather that in the silent era allowed for shooting movies outdoors.
Third the varied geography of Southern California from ocean to desert to mountains and forests and farm lands made it easier for the studios to make movies set in other locals without leaving town.

Oh, these data will be useful to me. I am doing a US AH that includes all of North America with a POD of 1774-1776 and now I know where the Alternate Hollywood will be. ;)

I know Picture City in Florida was considered before the hurricanes hit and cleared out a lot. So perhaps somewhere else on the Gulf Coast, like in Louisiana or Texas could be good? (Pending floods and all that stuff).

Or perhaps they move into Picture City before the hurricane hits?

LA was the spot due to warm weather and reliable light. SoCal is likely. If not LA, San Diego or San Jose, or maybe Bakersfield.
