A good point but remember the Labour leaders had adopted similar positions themselves. The Tory aristocrat proved a convenient scapegoat for their own failures. Without Churchill, I don't think they would have been in a position to play kingmaker as OTL. They would have had an option to join the National (Conservative ) Government in a wartime coalition or not. And not wouldn't have been a good option for their long term political future. If the war is won they are unpatriotic traitors. If the war is lost, backstabbing scapegoats themselves. And Attlee and Bevan genuinely patriotic men. OTL in a position to partly manipulate the Tory succession they took it. Faced with a united Conservative party would they have raised the issue? Assuming of course that we don't have a TTL "Otherhill" in Eden, Duff Cooper or Emrys Evans .
