What's your thoughts could this weapon to be improved or the desission to be canceled was right?

It looks like a FN-FAL, M-14 or G3 clone built when that type of rifle where beginning to be replaced by 5.56mm NATO rifles like the M-16. So if there where no weapons embargo, why making it in the first place rather then buying some of the guns above? And if it was an embargo, why no copy said rifle?

In OTL G3 was chosen as the standard rifle of the Greek Army as you see in the photo which uses the same 7.62x51mm ammo like the Greek made rifle. It was a private own attempt Greece to become independent in small arms. Was made one year after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus which led Greece to withdrawn military from NATO (1974 - 1980). My questions is if this rifle was adopted would be a success?

.... Not Successful
Just a internal Greek Market is not enuff, and lets face it -It's Ugly - which limits it's international sales.
