Chronicles of the Tagalog Dynasty, a remake of Terraces and Pagodas

Chronicles of the Tagalog Dynasty

On an unknown time immigrants from Sumatra founded the town of Tondo, the capital of Mayi as the chinese used to know the polity of Mayi, the people from Sumatra and Java migrated to the Island of Gold leaving them with linguistic influences.

Note:
In OTL Lakan Gambang in OTL was a forgotten martyr, so was his Dynasty was forgotten in history books, Gintu/Gold is the old name of Luzon.

The Decision that Changed history
On the island of Gintu, Lakan Gambang was told by his advisors that fighting with Ragam Bolkiah would only cause defeat, Gambang dreamt that if he fought against Bolkiah, his island would be forcefully converted to Islam and later sold to hundred years of slavery.

He said, “For the sake of my land I will agree to giving Maynila to Ragam Bolkiah”.

And for this reason the Tagalog Dynasty survived and remained in rule in the Island of Gold.

A day after, Lakan Gambang decided that he would give tribute to Nakhoda Ragam of Bolkiah and give his daughter, Dayang Kelangitan/Banwa to marriage to a prince, the Prince who will marry Dayang Banwa is Prince Lontok Bolkiah, a son of the Legendary Nakhoda Ragam.

Ragam Bolkiah made a treaty of transfer of Maynila and Tondo to Brunei, whose terms are that the Lakan and his family would convert to Islam in exchange his daughter, Banwa would marry Lontok of Brunei.

Lakan Gambang converted to Islam and made his state known as Sultanate of Selurong to the Malays to , his powerful subordinates, the principalities Kaboloan, Aparri, Kumintang, Lihan and Namayan accepted this conversion, but Gambang told his ministers that the pagans and hindus would be respected and be allowed to their right of worship.

Lakan Gambang became a Sultan and it is no longer known as the Kingdom of Tondo or Mayi it is now the Sultanate of Selurong to the Malays.

After Gambang’s conversion to Islam, he would last see his daughter Banwa who would marry Lontok, Banwa left and married to the Prince of Brunei, Lontok.

But in the end the treaty did effect and Maynila and its surrounding area would be given to the Bruneians, Gambang was forced to Transfer his capital to another one since the environs of Maynila and Tondo would be given to the Bruneians, he would transfer his capital to a better one, he decided that a ground that is north of Lihan would be made as capital which would be called as Singapura which would foster the oneness of the people of Gintu.

Consequences of the Decision
The decision started to change the religion of Gintu or the Island of Gold, the lowlander nobles of all the subordinate Kingdoms of Tondo or Mayi became muslims.

In this point in time because of the change, the Kingdom of Mayi and its subordinates became collectively known as Katagalugan or the Sultanate of Katagalugan which is the native name of the entity known by the Chinese as Mayi and the Malays as Selurong, one of the traders to china told the chinese nobles to call the land as the River Nation of Jiangguo and the Japanese would call the state as Sengoku.

The people living the basins of Kagayan River and the Pampanga river adopted the Islamic religion

The Javanese from the already crippled Majapahit resettle in the towns of Lihan and Aparri because of the which changed the culture of the Island and due to this the people of Katagalugan have a very Hindu-Buddhist influence from Java.

The Bruneian rule in the environs of Maynila was completely accepted by the people of Katagalugan.

There were two famous cadet branches of the Tagalog Dynasty, the Lihan and the Kumintang Family, the Gatsalihan would later rule both the City-States of Aparri and Lihan while the Kumintang Family is the family ruling in Batangas.

Tagalog Dynasty’s Cadet branches
-Lihan
-Kumintang

The rivalry between the Gatsalihan and Kumintang was akin to the war between the Taira and Fujiwara of Japan.

After Lakan Gambang died, he was replaced by his nephew, Rajah Alon, named after his ancestor, he adopted the name Iskandar as his name as his name as Sultan, he took an Iranun Princess from Mindanao as a wife.

note: Sengoku and Jiangguo mean River Nation/State.

Mindanao
Shariff Muhammed Kabungsuwan was the first Sultan of Maguindanao in the Philippines. A native of Johor in Maritime Southeast Asia, Kabungsuwan re-settled in Mindanao in the Philippines where he preached Islam to the native tribes around the region.

Kabungsuwan invaded Malabang, Cotabato, facing armed resistance from the non-Muslim natives, nevertheless successfully vanquishing and subjugating them to his (Islamic) rule through the might of his Samal warriors.

Kabungsuwan was of Arab-Malay ethnicity. He married a local princess and established the Sultanate of Maguindanao in the 16th century. The sultanate was usually centered in the valley of Cotabato.

The Sultanate of Maguindanao would be the leading Principality in Mindanao.

The people of Katagalugan would call the Island of Mindanao as Kairanunan.
