I once read that the Romans taxed in the month of Quinctilis which later became the month of July. It stands to reason then if Mary and Jospeh were on their way to Bethlehem to be taxed that it wasn't in December.
So what if this catches on the Christian church grabs a summer pagan holiday to slap their name on and claims that is when their holy savior was born.
