Christianity goes east?

Fails to take root in Europe but manages to convert the Persians and Indians (maybe even Chinese)?

Are there any TLs that follow this premise?

Well, what religions DO take root in Europe? We could see some sort of crusades from the Persians and Indians trying to take back Jerusalem from the current religion there. We could even see the Indians and Persians (also possibly the Chinese) becoming the extreme colonialists and imperialists.

I hope the answer helped, I am somewhat new to AH.

Maybe one of those Roman mystery religions. Or perhaps native pagan beliefs simply survive and evolve.

A Crusade from the east would be interesting to see. Especially if Islam still comes into being in this setting.

The mystery religions weren't all that good at attracting huge numbers of followers, mostly because they were, well, mysterious. There could end up being a diverse mix of traditional paganism and mystery religions, but no one mystery religion really had the capability to dominate. Of course, such a diverse setup seems quite unstable, maybe some new religion might end up forming out of the chaos and become dominant?

Islam itself would be butterfly murder of the highest order, but some very rough equivalent could rise.

Christianity did go east. A good portion of Mongols were Nestorians while India has Saint Thomas christians. As to how christianity fails to take root in Europe, maybe blame the Antonine Plague on christians or various disasters. Having christianity stay a minor, marginalized religion in Europe might be helped if Emperor Constantine refused to convert.

Or just have maxentius win at the milvian.

But how do we make it dominante in the East, Yes we had the nestorians and such but they never could claim dominance in any region

A good point. Converting Persia would be hard, the Nestorians had presence in Mesopotamia, but they never made much headway onto the Iranian plateau proper, and that's only after Christianity had become a major religion.

I assume Christianity would develop differently. Maybe we would see the development of a syncretic Christian-Zoroastrian religion, were Jesus is the Saoshyant?

Hmm, a similar religion to Islam taking root in the west would make for an interesting flip of OTL-eastern crusaders fighting the western infidels to retake Jerusalem.
