Christian Persia

For an NG, I have a christian persia. Now lets say that Christianity did go that way, what sort of elements could it have taken on? One idea I had was that the dualistic stuff of Zoroastrianism comes into play.

In not sure if there is a lot of information about native Persian Christians. Assyrians went all Nestorians and what.

There was some political chaos in Persia after the Battle of Herat that annihilated a lot of the Persian royal family. From 484-531, there was ongoing Hepthalite raids, succession wars, and social instability. The ruler for much of that period, Kavadh I, converted to a heretical form of Zoroastrianism that was extremely socialistic called Mazdakism. The Mazdakites were known to sack rich noble estates. Eventually the nobility and religious conservatives wiped them out.

If we add more political chaos that the Sassanid Dynasty collapses, then perhaps one of the future claimants might pull a Constantine either because he is a devout Christian, or he sees something useful in Christianity. If Mazdakism is partially or fully suppressed in Persia during the chaos, then its followers could potentially convert to a Christian sect that places relief of the poor as a primary attribute.

That is probably your best bet. Earlier than this, and the alliance between the nobility and Zoroastrian priesthood are too strong. After this, you have the Byzantine-Persian War that is right before the Islamic Conquests.
