Chinese style dynastic cycle in Japan

Could the Chinese dynastic style cycle come to pass in Japan where the Royal family is occasionally overthrown and replaced by powerfully leaders

What would be the political impact if the Japanese royal family can be replaced

What would be the cultural impact

Sure. Taira no Masakado tried in the 10th century, although he was from a cadet branch of the imperial dynasty. And only the fact the title of emperor was politically worthless stopped it from being usurped by another dynasty. Odds are that if the imperial dynasty had been overthrown in the 1st millennium then that subsequent dynasty would've also been overthrown at some point.

Maybe but they would also need something similar or performing the similar role as the Chinese Mandate of Heaven to justify dynastic overthrows. Perhaps a Shinto equivalent of deities or spirits blessing good governance or manifest rejection of bad government and tyranny.

Oda Nobunaga becomes emperor, but his dynasty ends after his overthrown, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi or Tokugawa Ieyasu takes over.

No Ashikaga consolidation and uglier war in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanboku-chō_period.

Political : weak Shogun, while Emperor would be more Shogun-like, politically active and routinely deposed.

Religion l : weak Amaterasu worship (its associated with Imperial family), stronger Buddhism among upper class (especially more militant sect). Inari would be even more important among peasant as most widespread nonpolitical deity. More important local Shinto gods and shrine network.

Cultural : Greater regionalism, with local tradition more prominent as no stable national-imperial cultural centre last long. Kyoto might be sacked more often (less sacredness) and other Capital might be chosen by new dynasty in nearby areas.
