Chinese coaltion unites agaisnt Japan

Is there any way the Communists and KMT could have united against the invader. Maybe this requires the non birth of both Chiang Ke Shek and Mao Tss Tung.

I assume that given the different populations sizes Japan could have been beaten.

Would Japan's political system if it had suffered a 'Vietnman' on super steroids?

The Communists were getting their ass kicked pre Japanese and spent the entire war building up their strength and ignoring the Japanese army so they would be in a good position post war.

actually, the Chinese Communists did do quite a lot of guerrilla warfare, but yes, most of the fighting was done by the Nationalists.

I think a lot of people have this idea that the only reason Militarist Japan was able to conquer vast parts of China is because China was disunited. That certainly didn't help, but it's not the only factor. Even a united China still has a very limited industrial base, with a corresponding inability to train, equip, and field a large army up to modern standards. All of the political unity in the world won't create the ability to produce anti-tank guns (for example) overnight.

No, but it means they are less likely to hoard/squander American given anti-tank weapons due to the need to hedge your bet against the day when the Japanese surrendered and you needed to resume the civil war. At the same time it actually makes chain of commands where everyone follows orders possible and greatly improves military functionality. At the end of the day China had so much manpower and the Japanese an army which was obsolete enough (by European standards) that a united and determined Chinese government can wage a war of attrition to eventually force the Japanese to make concessions.

I thought KMT and Communistts were united to form the NRA in fighting the Japanese.
On paper, in truth the Commies did very little, partly because their armies already were in shambles, and they used the time to regrow, and partly because their two enemies were fighting each other, thus both were getting weaker.
