China never reunifies?

The Sui Dynasty reunified China in the late 500s, ending almost three hundred years after the last dynasty, the Han, fell. They fell after only 30 years, but from then on China stayed largely united under the Tang and the Song, with new dynasties always popping up at some point.

What if this didn't happen and China stayed divided, with warring states? How would China fare without the stability it enjoyed OTL and its Golden Age?

The first unification with the Kingdom of Qin conquering the six others Warring States was a series of very bloody wars that depopulated the Zhongguo. Then after one generation, the Qin dynasty fall and a new series of bloody civil war destroyed the country.

Perhaps without an unification, the country will suffered less...
