China invades India vs. India invades China pre-1800

I was wondering if there were any military campaigns/expeditions that brought Chinese troops within India and/or Indian troops within China before the 1800's.

I was thinking about a AH where an Indian and Chinese Empire somehow get into a war about territories in South-East Asia, but can't seem to come up with a POD which lets such a thing happen.

If anyone could help me out, I would be very thankfull.

Not much, the Himalayas obviously get in the way. The Chinese did intervene in Nepal and Burma in the 18th century but no further than that. In practice there was never an Indian empire with the power projection capability--or will--to seriously threaten Chinese hegemony (albeit theoretical as it often was) in Indochina.

The Cholas seem the most likely candidate, considering their role in SE Asia. You just need to figure out a way for the Cholas or a comparable polity to push their influence further into SE Asia and come into conflict with the Chinese. The Cham might try to cultivate Chola patronage in order to resist the Vietnamese.

Well, a war between an Indian state and China in Burma would fit the request, wouldn't it? And I should point out that a Chinese fleet under Zheng He during the Ming Dynasty invaded Sri Lanka and captured a king there. And same fleet also attacked pirates off the coast of Indonesia. I feel like it's not as difficult to imagine such a conflict.
