China Expertise Wanted for Dynasty Name

Please, I need someone who´s good at (early middle) Chinese language(s) and history to help me out with a possible dynasty name. (Any other input is welcome, too, of course.)

Let us assume the Tuyuhun Kings, who ruled quite a vast territory but somehow aren´t considered part of "official" Chinese history AFAII, somehow manage to carve out some core Chinese territory from, say, the Northern Wei, and then stop calling themselves "Kings of Henan" and instead claim the title of Huangdi/emperor in the Chinese sense. (I´m thinking late 5th/early 6th century CE).

What would be plausible names for their dynasty?
(Were there some predetermining / limiting factors? Or was that relatively arbitrary and they could have chosen anything prestigious?)

Thanks a lot in advance!

Yan?The founder of Tuyuhun was related to the Murong rulers of the state of Yan from the male line. How much Chinese land did they take btw? What they take largely determines what name they take if they didn't use the name of Yan or create an entirely new name out of the blue like the Jurchens(i.e Jin and Qing).Alternatively,if the Northern Wei emperor gave them a one character kingly title, then the character from that title may very well be the name of their new state if they declared themselves as independent emperor.

Thanks, darthfanta!
I think mainly Shaanxi.

Either Zhao,Jin or Yan.Yan if they want to emphasize their relationship to the rulers of Yan,Zhao or Jin because of the area they ruled. The powerful states of Jin and Zhao from the Zhou Dynasty era was based in Shaanxi.

EDIT:Confused Shaanxi for Shanxi. The name should be Qin then,it's Shaanxi is where Qin's based in.

If you need any more names for Chinese dynasties, look for lists of ancient Chinese states and where their bases of power are.

For "ancient" look up the states existed during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Era.

Although, what tends to happen is that the new states formed will generally take the names of one of the more prominent states.

I had a look,I confused Shaanxi for Shanxi. If the state is based in Shaanxi, then by all means Qin would be the more appropriate title if Yan is rejected.Like what Tom Colton said however,Zhou will also do since the Western Zhou dynasty was based in Shaanxi as well.

Better yet, there is OTL precedent for a "Northern Zhou" state! :D
