Charles the XII Survives Fredrikshald

Charles the XII Survives and successfully takes Fredrikshald and forces Danish surrender what happens next does he defend northern Sweden from Russia or focus on the south and Saxony and Poland-Lithuania

Defending against Russia is the best option, but a winning strategy it's not. Sweden is at war with most of its neighbours and its defeat is a matter of time.

A deal with Russia was in the making (whatever it might have contained) and the attack on Norway along with Russian support could perhaps get Denmark to agree to a peace. For the rest of the enemies, Sweden did not have the money to go on fighting even if Charles wanted to, so a general peace in the following years should be necessary, sort of like OTL, but with slightly less Swedish losses.

Charles wanted Stanislaw as Polish king, and he might get Russian agreement in that, but it would mean more fighting, which feels pointless without resources. You can't get everything.

Perhaps Russian support gets Sweden to have all its German provinces back, that seems reasonable as part of a peace with Russia. For the Russian border there are several suggestions, but it might not have been precisely as OTL. There is a claim that Russia wanted to keep everything, and another where even Viborg and Livonia are returned against Holsteinian succession, and other versions. Sweden could probably not reconquer anything major at this stage, but the next king was reviled for giving up too much against money, so perhaps, just perhaps, some more lands are Swedish after the war. (I would have Russia keeping only Keksholm, Ingria and Narva, while leaving the rest, and Sweden also retakes Courland as compensation, but then someone will tell me that I am wrong, and nothing more than OTL was on the table.) It is up to Charles and Peter to agree on something but what would that have been?
