Charles tells Camilla to wait for him

Most of the more recent biographies say Charles Asked Camilla the question

Charles actually did propose to Camilla, despite the rumor that he did not ask her to wait according to several of the most accounts of their relationship. She said that she did not want to be a queen.

Actually, some reference was made to the role of her great grandmother as mistress to the King...

Charles wanted to Marry her. It just took several decades for Camilla to react the same.

The monarchy would be more boring, but Camilla's son and daughter with Parker-Bowles are actually not that unattractive.

No children would actually have the Spencer red hair like Harry does.

I read just this past week that Camilla in the early 1970s was not judged acceptable by the Queen because Camilla had several boyfriends before Charles and was not a virgin. That requirement, obviously, has gone by the boards in modern times.

why would the law of succession change if Charles and Camilla had had a daughter first???? No sense there at all.

Well, if its after 77-78 the UK see the direction Sweden is taking after their firstborn is a girl. Off course, if the second child IS a male and the constitution is beeing changed i can see UK going NOrways route rather than Sweden and having their male second born becoming the heir instead of the girl.

As for CHarles beeing in the shithouse after the split from Diana. I dont see any changes from his normal daily routine in our out of the doghouse

If the Queen had invited Camilla to stay at Sandringham for Christmas of 1972, Charles and Camilla would have married after he came back from naval duty in the summer of 1974. (She actually waited for Charles until the middle of December 1972.)

Their 1st child would have been born in 1976, their 2nd in 1979 and their 3rd in 1982. (Base on her pregnancy w/APB)

They would have been a year younger than her children with APB. (plus extra child same age as William.)

Camilla and Charles were both very cute children. Their children would have been attractive. Their grandchildren would be toddlers (not teenagers.)

Camilla grandchildren are very cute.

Camilla would not have had a 45 year, 40 cigarette smoking habit.

She would have quit her smoking habit before joining the Royal Family.
It took her nearly a decade to quit.

Camilla was & is very fashionable. She would have been a trendsetter.
The Camilla you see today & compare to Diana is a 64 year old woman who's face shows the stress she has been under & the results of her smoking and being an outdoors woman.

When Camilla is under stress it shows up in her face. In 1992, in just 5 months, she aged 15 yrs. (Compare pictures before Morton's book came out and those taken in November of 1992.)

There are recent pictures of her taken the same day, when she is doing something unpleasant (at the organization dealing with child sexual abuse) every line, crease & dimple are clearly etched in her face.

The picture taken the same day of her turning on the Christmas tree light, her face is relaxed.

Camilla was a better more stylish dresser than Diana. (Diana had several extreme makeovers)

Compare Camilla vs Diana as teenagers.

Compare Diana & Camilla side by side when they were pictured together.
Diana was not an attractive woman, after her extreme makeovers she was just a tall, slender woman wearing expensive clothes & jewelry.

Camilla was 14 years older than Diana.

Camilla had the stress of being a single mother raising 2 kids by herself without nannies & staff while having to deal with the cheating/selfish Andrew Parker Bowles who put everyone ahead of Camilla, especially himself.

William and Harry were cute kid but now they are not.

Harry is becoming extremely unattractive.

William is bald & he looks sort of feminine.

If Charles had married Camilla he would not have lost his hair due to the stress of dealing with Diana and her hysterics.

Camilla and Charles children would have a full set of hair even when they are in the 90's.

Ja, what he said.

For some crazy reason, the archaic 'pure as the driven snow' requirement was solidly in place at that time. For females only, obviously.

HRM would have been MOST unpleased (unamused) if Charles had seriously proposed Camilla, and AFAIK, the monarch's consent is (was?) still required for any royal marriage in the line of descent.

OTOH, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she seriously regrets that now.

While the royals wouldn't have gotten the tremendous boost in popularity that Diana provided, they wouldn't have been dumped in the trash (in popularity) afterwards, either, so I think they'd be ahead at the moment.

However, changing the Queen's opinion at the time borders on ASB, as does Charles getting married illegally. I certainly can't imagine what would have changed Elizabeth's mind on the issue.

Well, Diana would still be alive, but doing what? Camilla wouldnt be as intressting to the press imho and also still be alive as the princess of wales.

Marriage in 1977 and the first born in 78 named William or Anne

d Diana would be an unknown preschool teacher and mother.

I agree with most of this post but I think that Charles' baldness is hereditary and his hair would have turned loose even if his life had been all sweetness and light.

I like Camilla. She seems down to earth and seems to have a lot less psychoses than Diana. I can't imagine the stress the poor woman has endured over the years but she seems to come through it with her sense of humor intact. A real survivor.
