Charles I of England has a son in 1626.

So this thread, is for a timeline/story idea I've got brewing in the works.

The rough outline is that Charles I marries Henrietta Maria of France as he did in otl, in 1625, the difference being that a son is born to them not in 1630, but in 1626, the son is named Charles, and is soon followed two years later by another son, named James, born in 1628, and so on and so forth. Consequently, with a bit of better luck and some more skill, Charles I wins the Civil war against Parliament around 1644, before the introduction of the New Model Army.

What I am wondering now is, say Charles wins the civil war quite convincingly in 1644, forcing Parliament to its knees. What happens in regards to the state of affairs between Parliament and the Crown, what happens re religion, and who might CHarles's sons marry?

Why does his son being born 4 years earlier, mean Charles I wins the Civil war? Do you expect some extra support for the royal family with older children?

With a royalist win, Parliament will just be a puppet of the King, with him pulling the strings, cutting the string of members, he doesn't like and putting his favourites in charge of high politics.

The church of England is still the state religion, although, Charles' wife, will be able to influence the children into the way of her Catholicism.

Marriage suggestions:
- A daughter of a high supporter in the civil war?
- Dorothea Elisabeth Christiansdatter (1629- OTL 1687) or Hedwig of Schleswig-Holstein (1626-OTL 1678) both are daughters of king Christian IV of Denmark
- Countess Louise Henriette of Nassau (1627-OTL 1667)
- Lady Amelia Ann Sophia Stanley (1633- 1703), daughter of James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby and Charlotte de La Tremoille. IOTL She would go on to have 12 children, with 8 living to adulthood.
- Elizabeth Maitland, Duchess of Lauderdale (1626-1698), the eldest of the five daughters of William Murray, 1st Earl of Dysart, a close friend and Gentleman of the Bedchamber of Charles I
- Lady Anne Somerset (1631-1663), daughter of Edward Somerset, 2nd Marquess of Worcester, who while Earl of Glamorgan, he was sent by Charles I to negotiate a peace treaty and alliance with the leadership of the Catholic Irish Confederacy

Very true re the civil war, I did think it could possibly lead to more discipline?

And very interesting suggestions. Hedwig for Charles prince of Wales could be quite good. Or henrietta of nassau
