There is a great AH tradition of shortening or lengthening a historical figures life. Whose longer or shorter life would have changed history? The obvious example is John Kennedy, but I think there are many others. I read Volume III of Stephen Ambrose biography of Nixon. I thought about all the health troubles that plagued Nixon in 1974. If he had died on or before September 7, 1974, then Ford would not have pardoned him. Ford would then win the election of 1976 and serve four years as a president that had actually won an election. There would have been no President Carter or President Reagan. In 1980, Reagan is the candidate of the president's party in a time of a bad economy and a hostage crisis. Because the Democrats don't have to play defense. They have more time time to paint Reagan as an extremist. So what other examples come to mind?
