Change for Greece

I'm not sure where on this board I read it, because my search terms simply aren't finding anything relevant, but there was a thread where someone on the Ionian islands led Greece to be a more stable and prosperous state, or somehow someone else led Greece after independence, leading it not to be in such a bad economic state as it is in today. Would anyone happen to know of such a thread on this board?

If not, given a Greek War of Independence starting in 1821, what's the best possible outcome for Greece that's realistic, in terms of territory and who leads the country, to position the country to both (a) retake Constantinople within 100 years of independence, and (b) rapidly gain a majority (90%+) Greek population of over 5 million within 100 years of independence, and have over 10 million today?

Was the thing you read a TL on this site or another? If on another site, I think I know what one it is.

I thought it was this site, but you're right, it could've been an off-site one that was black text on a plain white background.

The only thing I really remember is it had something to do with the Ionian Islands.

Is Ioannis Antonios Kapodistrias a good start-off leader for Greece? And would they become a republic or do they have to become a monarchy?

I think it may be this: http://www.oocities.org/drammos/ww2.html (it was mentioned in another thread).

From what I can remember reading about Greek War of Independence, what would help the Greeks is preventing the infighting between them.

And to the questions you asked: Kapodistrias is good leader and they don't necessarily have to become a monarchy.

Tongera,

Kapodistrias(who I admire as well) had a dictatorial attitude not acceptable
(as a matter of honor-and as a matter of income to survive) to powerful families like that of Mavromihalis of Mani (probably the leading family in the revolution) whose members killed him...that was what brought the Bavarian
prince to the throne of Greece...
