Challenge: WWF Wreslers Become Politicians

Bob Backlund moves to say, Minnesota and wins a Tea Party-backed House Seat. (He did run for Congress once and got stomped)

As for Edge- he's retiring in North Carolina.

As for Kane- being born on a military installation= native-born US citizen. He's just as eligible as McCain.

Maybe John Edwards takes a tombstone from Kane after being disgraced.

Another possibility- in the 80's, the two Gary Harts get mixed up. Gary Hart (the guy who managed Muta) beats Reagan and becomes a successful president, while the politician Hart ends up with Missy Hyatt.

No mention of Dusty Rhodes, as governor of Georgia? Thread I am dissapoint.

IIRC, Hulk's from Florida. He'd be able to do a massive amount of radio, as he was friends with a morning host that was on across most of the state, but I never remember Hogan saying anything about politics.

Well, there's always the TNA team of Eric Bischoff & Hulk Hogan.
They are demonstrating their management skills on the TNA programs.
Maybe they could transfer these skills to the political arena.

(Tongue in cheek)

well Ric Flair once thought of running for governer of North Carolina. lets say he ran. and won. Flair has a great following in NC. im sure he would win if he ran. maybe he get a seat in the Senate later. idk.

I think we need to get past individual actors and think about why WWE and pro wrestling are so very similar to OTL American politics.

Think about it: American political campaign speeches and TV messages aren't really any different than the trash talking sessions that the opposing pro-wrestling "teams" act out before a big "match". What are national election TV commercials? Just a string of smears without any substantiation except for some questionable small print. What's pathetic about this situation is that pro wrestling is dramatic entertainment, but American politics is supposed to be substantial rhetoric in some way.

Jesse Ventura's gubernatorial win in Minn. precisely demonstrates how an actor trained in a faux-"verbally aggressive" dramatic theater can win by acting his persona through the political election process. I would not be surprised if Karl Rove has studied pro wrestling for acting tips. The "in your face" pro wrestling dramatic speeches, crowd riling, and build-up to the rather anti-climactic ring match precisely mirror stump speeches and presidential candidate debates.

Has anyone besides JBL and Mick Foley (and Jesse Ventura) given their political inclinations?

(JBL's conservative, Mick has said he's a Democrat, and we know about Jesse).

People have said they're surprised wrestlers are Republican, so who else is there?

Preferrably current ones or recently retired ones. It would be interesting to know what the politics of Cena and Taker are.
