by 2017, presumably. You can make GDPin the poorest areas lower if you make up for it with higher life expectancy, for instance.

I'd actually envision a particularily dystopian and dark TL, the mother of all Vlad Tepes TL, where what remains of mankind gets its shit together eventually, managing to build a world that if effectively reduced and depopulated still manages to thrive on the ruins of past civilization.
Yeah, utopia!

It was actually the Finns who built the pyramids, out of fossilized Mämmi pudding. During the Ice Age, when Finns were capable of surviving south of the Arctic Circle, each tomb in the Valley of the Kings was actually a Finnish sauna.

Truly, they were a wondrous people whose advanced civilization is much missed.

That must be a map of the Neo-Finnish Empire, some 300,000 years after the beginning of the first one (and ~10,000 years before the beginning of the Finngolian Reich) - we all know the first one emerged roughly at the same time as Homo Suomiensis began the process of engineering the new Homo Sapiens as a slave race

this shit is gold.. talk with HBO about making a series!

What about my idea of the Industrial Revolution starting in 12th century China (the Song Dynasty was on the verge of an industrial revolution) and not in 18th century Britain?

No Attila the Hun means less pressure on the Roman Empire, combine this with Roman reforms, and Europe doesn't go through the dark ages?
