Challenge: UK in OTL France's geopolitical, economic position after 1945

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to have Britain "take" France's place in the following ways in post-war Europe:

  • Leaves integrated NATO command
  • Prioritizes independent nuclear deterrent
  • Integrates last colonial remnants as integral parts of UK a la French Guiana, New Caledonia, etc.
  • Experiences a significant political reorganization similar in scope to the Fifth Republic
  • Becomes a member of the Treaty of Rome's "Inner Six"
  • Joins a Eurozone equivalent and remains in it today

Wile its an interesting goal the problem is there are very good reasons things turned out this way. France for two centuries was having nightmares about falling under the sway of a English-speaking country, 1945 just changed the bogeyman from the UK to the US. Britain in contrast has since 1820 had much better relations with the US thanks to a common language and more similar cultural and attitudes. That means we weren't as frightened of being "subsumed".

I suppose if they get it a bit worse during WWII, there might be a national "never again" sentiment and unwillingness to depend completely on their allies.
