But the difference is that the major exporter of Panturkism is now in the USSR, and the only major Turkic area still outside the USSR is relatively easily brought into its orbit, Sinkiang/Uighurstan. Furthermore, promoting Panturkism could bolser Soviet aspirations in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Balkans.

Re. Iran and Afghanistan they would have to pander to pan-Iranic nationalism, same with the Krygyz peoples. I'm not sure it will work too well in Iran + Afghanistan + Pakistan. Heck, Kurds are an Iranic peaking people technically (I guess Ataturk's claim that Kurds are 'Mountain Turks' wont get too far or wont get propagated in this TL).

Also, I wonder how Turanism would work in the USSR, I mean the Soviet Union didnt make itself a Pan-Slavic organization willingly or intentionally, it just ended up falling that Slavic countries ended up joining en masse the Soviet Bloc or were otherwise annexed. USSR even banned some pan-slavic organizations or they had to operate underground. Post-collapse those sentiments came out again. Also the whole 'soviet union becoming slanted towards russians unfairly' stick that works against pan-slavism in soviet bloc.

If the USSR had a tsundere, leaning towards disdaining relationship with panslavicism i dont think theyll go all 'turan lol XD' :p

Perhaps it's split split after WWII between a USSR owned protion in Asiatic Turkey and a NATO sposored 'Byzantium Republic' on the European half.

I may have just found a non-ASB way for the Greeks to regain Constantinople

No you didn't. At best you would have a pro-Western Turkish government based in Istanbul. There was only a small number of Greeks at this point; most of them had left during the 1950 pogroms.

What would the pro-west Turkey call themselves? After all, they are missing Turkey...

There are Turkic groups inside the countries mentioned. It has nothing really to do with the Kurds or Paniranism necessariy, just to be clear. Specifically, the Afghan Uzbeks and Turkmen comt to mind, as do the Iranian Azeris, but these are by no means the only Turkic groups in these largely Iranic societies south of the USSR of our timeline.
