Challenge: Turkey Wank

With a PoD of 500 AD, how can we have turkey's become an invasive species in the most climates, largest amount of land, and the most popular meat for consumption possible (on par with chicken if possible)?

Bonus for additional widespread uses.

OTL muslims and hindus consume large amounts of turkey compared to christians of similar economic status; because many of them follow religious restrictions on eating other popular farm animals; ie. pigs and cows.

With POD of 500 AD we could fairly plausibly see most of the population of the world following a religion which severely prohibits non-turkey meat, we could also have the global population larger and/or wealthier than OTL, consuming more meat.

Finally, have a horrific disease destroy the world population of chickens and quail, but leave turkey's intact.

Could Turkeys survive in most forested temperate climates? Could they survive in most places from Iberia to Japan? How about the Southern Cone?

How far North were domesticated turkeys? Is it possible to have the Vikings brings some back to Greenland and then Iceland and then Scandinavia and it spread from there?

Domesticated turkeys were a Mexican thing. The turkeys we eat today are descended from them, not the wild turkeys of e.g. New England.

However, if a Vinland settlement holds on, some enterprising young settler might start raising turkey chicks from the egg. (Also e.g. Canada Geese.)

I don't want to eat those monsters, I want to destroy them.

Have some big successful businessman or merchantman successfully establish a market for turkey in some high-wealth kingdom or government. Have it spread through pop culture as a chic food. "The chicken of the New World! Taste the majestic fowl!"

"You gonna do what with me?"

Yes, bring them back to Europe so they can establish themselves as invasive. Very obvious potential, considering that rheas of all birds are invasive in parts of Europe.

Could the Polynesians contact central America and start raiding turkeys themselves?

Best way for early introduction of turkeys. Requires Polynesian Galapagos (and probably Cocos Island too).
