as stated above bonus points if you can have Zoroastrianism the main religion of the middle east.

Have a tiny thing change anywhere in the Mediterranean World prior to 500.
Whallah, you have butterflied away Islam entirely.

Prevent that last Roman-Persian war from happening so you can have both Persia and the Byzantines strong enough to repel the Arab invaders easily and then concentrate on fighting each other. You would either have restricted Islam into just Arabia as a fringe religion practiced by Arabians or probably destroyed it all together.

Or, you can have the Sassanids win the war in the late 610's or early 620's (they came extremely close, so its not difficult. Getting rid of Heraclius and having the Byzantines get a less militarily talented emperor would probably be enough). The Sassanids will probably take Syria, Egypt, and Armenia in the peace treaty, and then have about a decade to rebuild their strength before the Muslims come.

So there are 2 possibilities of POD:
1. Heraclius decided to evacuate the capital to Carthage (which in OTL he nearly did), Sassanids annexed Syria, Egypt, and Anatolia. Then when the Muslims came, they met one superpower Persian Empire, instead of two exhausted empires like in OTL.
2. Maurice never overthrowned by Phocas, Byzantines and Sassanids continued their friendly relationship, under Maurice and Khosrau II. When the Muslims came, they met TWO superpower empires (which is worse than 1st POD).

question would anyone be interested in a tl of this?

Yes please I for one would like to see a TL of this. The Sassanids are a very interesting culture (I find pre-Islamic Persian culture to be fascinating) and I would like to see if they could hold on a bit longer.

Sassanids.

I strongly agree. I can't see Persia resisting the Arab invasion after the recent Byzantine wars.

This is very intresting. The persians not converting could butterfly alot of things has any one considered the effects of not islamic persians? Plus if the persians are hostile to islam and is not conqured by muslim forces it could be the buffer zone stoping the islamisation of turkic nomands i dont know what that would change though very little or alot?

Islam would enter India in a different manner-by traders, probably. OTL Islam came to India from Afghanistan, which ITTL would still be Zoarastrian Persian...

Correct, after the war no matter who wind both would be exhausted and have problems resisting the Arab invasion. If the war didn't happen both Persia and Byzantium would be quite capable of containing the Arabs and even launch a counter offensive.

There is no Bubonic plague in the 6th century that hollows out the populations leaving them vulnerable to nomad attack later.

Or

Heraclius is poisoned by a eunuch and so there is no counter attack against the Persians.

The Persians take and hold Palestine and Syria. You could get a Zoroastrian Middle East the same way you get a Muslim one. Create a tax that only non believers pay. As time goes by the poor will convert to save money and since the poor are the majority then you have your Zoroastrian state.
