Challenge: Successful Counter-Reformation

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to have Catholicism restored as the state religion of all the countries in which it had that status prior to the Reformation by 1700 with a POD no earlier than 1550.

Spanish-wank maybe?

That could be the best-bet. The Spanish Empire had it's share of Papist zeal. Also during Hapsburg rule it had lands across Europe. So have them overun France somehow then turn on any protestant holdouts.

Keeping Sweden from becoming Lutheran can be a big step in that direction. If you can replicate the Jesuit success in Poland in Sweden, perhaps going further to establish a sort of Northern Spain, that sends armies into Germany to crush the Protestant forces, then you can possibly get a Catholic restoration across all of Germany.

England is a bit harder to handle. The POD is 16 years after the Church of England was established, but Mary I might be able to restore the Catholic Church to power.

The problem are that a Catholic Sweden will be a lot weaker and internal split. Even in OTL Sweden was in a very weak position until the reforms in the 1610s, if a Swedish king succeed in reestablish Catholism, we may see Denmark invade to support the Protestants, and at this point Sweden aren't strong enough to deal with Denmark especially not if there are a internal insurrection at the same time.
