Challenge: Spanish America, round 2

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to have Spain regain one of its former American colonies (except the Dominican Republic, which it ruled in 1861-1865 in OTL) by the present day with a POD no earlier than 1850. This may be done in an indirect manner, by having Spanish Bourbons (of the same branch, whether Isabeline or Carlist) ruling both Spain and the former colony.

Maybe if the South wins the ACW, then the US would be unable to enforce the Monroe Doctrine, which would allow for France to conquer Mexico AND for Spain to get part of its former colonies back.

Well, the easier POD would probably be to get rid of the Borbons, but I'll suggest this timeline:A Prussian on the Spanish Throne (my first TL) by Tocomochohttps://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=61430It's only up to 1900-ish so far, but I'd be rather surprised if Spain did not keep at least Cuba and Puerto Rico till modern times

Regain, not keep.

Ooops.Actually, Spain did regain the Dominican Republic in Prussian, but you said they don't count.(well, they also conquered the Florida Keys when a German/Spanish alliance won the spanish-american war, but they are a measly bunch of islands. And they conquered a Florida up to Miami, but I doubt they would be able to hold it even if the US is weaker on this timeline)
