Well, general rule of thumb is that if you avoid one assassination, you can avoid them all due to butterflies, so that's already been done if only out of laziness and excusing not having anyone get shot (Jesus, there should be at least some alternate assassinations in any scenario. Bobby may not get shot, but maybe someone can randomly take out George Romney and Andrew Young).
I don't know how accurate that can be. Yes, changing the past can alter what would happen in the future, but some things were bound to happen anyway. Kennedy can survive an assasination attempt, but that dosen't have to stop anybody from trying to kill MLK or whoever.
With my alternate history timelines, some things I tend to keep, either due to hindsight or if it makes sense in the timeframe where in. I also like to use the past IOTL to build upcoming events.
A good example would be a thread where what would World War 2 be like if the Germans won the first one.
