Challenge: Reelect LBJ in 1968 - Describe LBJ 2nd. Government

Challenge: Change LBJ's mind and make him run and win over Nixon the 1968...describe his second administration, answering questions like:

How LBJ would handle Vietnam?
What would be LBJ's economic policies?
Would his health fails before the end of his term?

Bonus: Keep LBJ live until January 1973

PS: No POD sooner than 1966 !

He would have to withdraw from Vietnam in 1963-4 for that to even be remotely possible. The inner-city explosion will still occur. If still in Vietnam, they would have to cut the Trail and have Abrams instead of Westmoreland in charge in 1964 for starters.

Economic policies: Same as OTL.

Health: Yes.

Bonus: ASB for all intents and purposes.

I think if he'd kept running he would of won, in OTL, his change from the left had no legs and Nixon wouldn't have been willing to run against a sitting President, so 1968 would have been Nelson Rockefeller (no, his marriage issues and overly liberalness would do him in) Reagan (ha! Goldwater 2.0!) or George Romney (most likely the best man to run, but his gaffes are Texas size) it was a close race in OTL (0.7% difference in the popular vote) a sitting President and a weaker Republican and the whole thing swings LBJ's way

Agree....Nixon would only enter a race with odds in his favor and no serious Democratic opponent after the first primaries.....in fact, LBJ's declining health was one of the main motives for his refusal to run..

agreed, and the stress of a second term would have killed him stone dead, likely in 1970, Hubert Humphrey becomes president... in OTL HHH gets bladder cancer in 1976 which kills him in early 1978, if he's elected in 1972 we could see 3 Presidents die in office in a row

Very interesting but IMHO it would be difficult to HHH be elected in 1972....no party would keep so long in power...my guess is that Nixon would be elected in 72.

You're A Land of Milk and Honey Timeline is pretty detailed and right on the money in regards to LBJ having a second term without Vietnam.
