Challenge: POTUS Karl Rove (R-ID)

POD 1972. Bonus points for before 2000. Double bonus for also playing his OTL role as the Supreme Strategic Guru.

Can it involve Rove becoming a follower of the Sith?

Seriously tho, from what I know of Rove his idea is not to be the guy publicly in control, but to be the advisor behind the scenes. Seems to me the POD would have to involve something to change that view in Rove, like something he views as a catastrophic failure of government, maybe a failure of his own party.

A Dem Rove would also be interesting. As I've pointed out, Karl's Ohio strategy in 2004, base mobilization, is not new. It was used 36 years previously in California by Robert Kennedy. Admittedly without phone banks, but the same basic idea. "Get the people who already support you to the polls". The master logistician and master strategist could create a Democratic strategic planning masterpiece rivalled only by Karl's OTL efforts. That would require Rove's OTL Dem girlfriend to stay with him, and a few other butterflies along the way.

*Ducks furious liberals*- think of it this way: strategic insight is not limited to the GOP.
