Challenge: Nigeria with a GDP per capita of $5,000+ nominally

With a PoD of 1950, how can we get Nigeria, within its current borders, with a nominal GDP per capita of $5,000 or greater in OTL 2019 USD?

IOTL, they are at just $2,200 dollars per person.

How can Nigeria more than double it’s GDP per head by today?

Less government corruption and separatism, like the Biafra secession.

A series of incompetent and corrupt governments since independence.

Seriously, this would be a massive step up from OTL of having a series of massively corrupt and utterly incompetent governments, and then on top of that a major civil war and an insurgency both largely caused by said government bumblefuckery.

A tiered Commonwealth from 1945 where nations receive trading and freedom of movement privileges based upon economic and social progress.

It could be a barometer of progress with African commonwealth nations competing to rise to 'most favoured'.

Mind you, on corruption, I did chat to this Nigerian lady in accounts who told me there were similar levels of corruption in the UK as Nigeria. It was just that we used the velvet hand while in Nigeria it was threat and intimidation backed by violence.
