.... in colonies, that is. I noticed that many places use Greek or pseudo-Greek names. Examples: Indonesia, Micronesia, Polynesia... basically anything with the -nesia suffix (which is Greek for island).
How could it come about that more of these areas would use Latin names?
IE:
Micronesia = Insula minor
Polynesia = Insula multi
Indonesia = Insula India or Insula malayus
I have no experience with Latin, so forgive any errors.
