Challenge: Minus Europe - The Evolution of the Americas

What would have happened if the American continents had no contact with Europe? This could be for any reason (Columbus never makes it back, the Mongols manage to raze everything from Istanbul to Lisbon, etc.), just so long as there is no long-term contact with non-Americans.

As far as I can tell, history follows certain patterns, and pre-Columbian mesoamerica fits those patterns perfectly. In fact, Mesoamerica is a lot like Mesopotamia is for Eurasia, with the Inca corresponding roughly with the Egyptians. My belief is that the Aztecs, like the Toltecs and Olmecs, all function as the ancient Mesopotamian powers, like Babylon, Assyria, and Persia, do to the east; as the base of local civilization. Eventually, after the Mesoamericans tire themselves out, a foreign group (the Apache?) establish a similar culture, but more advanced - much like Greece. And, eventually, another power further away from them (Louisiana? Florida?) takes over massive territories and establishes itself as the base of American culture: essentially, that will be Rome.

What do you guys think?

it might be a coincidence, but the 5500 thread is right below this one. :D

but I think that the Incas could have become even more prosperous, and their influence might force the Mapuche indians to make their own state.

also I think the Tarascans would cause the Aztec empire to collapse, and
become the dominant power in Tenocha.

I think your TL might be mirroring European/Near East history too closely. You can't just say that the Inca are the Egyptians, the Apache are the Greeks, etc...

What would also be interesting to talk about is how European History would be changed by not exploring the New World. One of my favorite things to do in the Europa Universalis games is play a power known for exploring the New World (such as Spain, Portugal, or England) and focus primarily on Europe, to see the changes therein and the different colonial patterns in the New World.

SRT are you talking about 5500 Years? Because if so the Apache are definately not the Greeks and the Inca are more based off of China, although with noted Egyptian influence. The Apache have a special role...

No, I was talking about this thread. I'm not trying to be harsh, but the continents are definitely different.

I haven't read your thread yet, I've been meaning to check it out for awhile now.
