Challenge: Make the American Revolution be about... slavery

IIRC Slavery had been outlawed in the British Isles but permitted in the colonies. Now circa 1773 there was a case brought before the courts in England by a slave seeking his freedom when his master had brought him onto English soil.

Now the court decision was that any slave brought into the British Isles would be freed but it allowed slavery to remain in the American and Caribbean colonies. Instead of limiting it decision to just the British Isles, have them declare that slavery is illegal throughout the Empire and watch as the regions which depend heavily on slaves for their economy rise up in rebellion.

Wouldn't this lead to a much more limited revolution? Potentially only the south, and even then potentially the middle states such as Virginia don't rebel, or the rebellion is only halfhearted and easily put down.

Well, he didn't say the American Revolution had to succeed...

If you avert the OTL one, and make the *American Revolution start later, say around the 1830s, there could be an "earlier US Civil War" sort of thing going on...

Have abolition becoming a dominant issue in Britain earlier. In that case you'll probably get the Caribbean Islands joining the revolution.
