Minor update on the main warbirds of His Ducal Highness. :D I think the redrawing is shaping up nicely so far. Still a lot of details in need of finishing, but it's getting close to how I imagined it.

They will use leased Alpha Jets for a few years before they buy the Hawks in the 80s (probably mid-80s by the looks of it). ;)

Sorry, Michel, I didn't notice your last post. Some answer to your question :

I still have to think these over. The Transall is a pretty narrow choice - an "exclusive" reserved for only a few countries, so to speak. I'd go with the Spartan, since it is also STOL capable. BTW, did you know that OTL Luxembourg plans to buy a big-ass Airbus A400M heavy transport by 2019 ? It will be its first army plane since the 1960s. Man, what a wacky world we live in...

congratulation, the C-27J Spartan is the advance export version of Aeritalia G.222 :D

I know, that's why I said Spartan and not G.222. It's basically the same thing.

That's a great start on the Hawk illustration. Looking forward to the finished product

I've used an existing image of a Swiss Mk60 Hawk as a template. It was in more parade-like national colours, hence the remnants of red in parts of the picture.

Another teaser update.

The Luxies now have a Gazelle. Admittedly, it's still pretty barebones, but I'll gradually improve it as I go along. ;)

A thought: if one could push forward the Finnish Hawk deal for a few years, there might be a highly theoretical possibility for a joint deal with Luxembourg for the same model in the mid-80s.

I mean think about the prospect of Finnish-Luxembourgian defence cooperation! What could go wrong?;)

I'll see how it goes. As I've already said on the previous pages, the incursion of Luxembourg into the club of Hawk buyers is certainly going to shuffle that plane model's history up a bit.

Utterly everything. :D But maybe we could give it the benefit of the doubt. ;)
