As we all know, Winsconsin Senator
Irvine Luther Lenroot was to be the running mate of Warren G. Harding on the 1920 Republican presidential ticket, but due to a revolt from the delegates, Calvin Coolidge was chosen instead. Had the Progressive Lenroot been confirmed as VP candidate, he would've become the 29th Vice-President and the 30th President of the United States upon Harding's death in 1923.
Could history of the XXth Century be changed by such a man?
A Progressive Republican, could Lenroot make the GOP more liberal, and even making, as of 2009, the Republicans as the Liberals and the Democrats as the Conservatives?
What does Lenroot needs to do to avoid Black Tuesday? If it's unavoidable, how long can he slow the Great Depression? Can a change in US economic policy alter world history? Would a world without the Great Depression see the rise of the Nazis?
A moderate isolationist, would his foreign policy be different from Coolidge's? And what about internal policy?
Who does he pick as running mate in 1924? Can he win in 1924? He could've run in 1928, as Coolidge was expected to do, and become the longest-sitting US President: would he run? And eventually win?
Who would be the contestants in 1932? If the Great Depression happens later than in OTL, who takes the blame for the crisis? Who adopts Keynesian policies?
