Challenge: Iroquois remain independent

What if the Iroquis comes down solidly on the Uk side during the revolution? And revolution fails really badly? Not neccessarily as a direct result. The Uk invests in the Iroquis as a way to discourage further rebellion?

Still doesn't result in an independent state. Makes it even less likely, as what reason would the British have in that scenario to carve off parts of their own territory?

I don't believe the British claimed Iroquis territory as theirs.

Proclamiantion of 1763, etc. They would buy it. They would be motivated to keep a lit on the rebellious colonists, which mattered a lot more to them than what happened in the wilderness. Which might result in more martial power on the Iroquis/British side, incidentally putting more power behind Iroquis land clais.
