Challenge : Habsburg Denmark

Your challenge, should you accept it, is with a PoD no earlier than 1400 and no later than the dissolution of 1523 (OTL's date of firm dissolution of Kalmar union, though it doesn't have to be ITTL), have Denmark end up being led by a Habsburg monarch, preferably it being part of larger Habsburgs' complex of dominions-in-personal-union by 1600 at the latest, which this country have to remain such until at least 1790s.

Well, the best dates for a change to a Habsburg monarch would be in 1440 after Eric of Pomerania is deposed, or in 1448 after Christopher of Bavaria dies heirless. Earlier than that is not likely, unless Eric is deposed earlier, and later than that would mean that it would be unlikely that Sweden stays in the union.

Well, here's a convoluted attempt.
1. Christopher dies, Denmark goes to his cousin Louis IV, elector Palatine.
2. Albert IV, duke of Bavaria, makes a successful attempt to unite all Wittelbach lands, including Denmark and Palatinate.
3. War breaks out between Albert IV and Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor. Frederick III takes Denmark.

I hope that someone can come up with something better.

Catherine de Valois of Burgundy dies in 1403, her husband Leopold IV (Duke of Austria) remarry a few years later, the bride is Catherine of Pomerania-Stolp sister of Erik of Pommern (King of Denmark), in OTL she married Johan, Count of Pfalz-Neumarkt, gave birth to Christopher of Bavaria (King of Denmark), before Leopolds death in 1411 (at age forty, so he's young enough to remarry) she give birth to a boy, let's call him Albert. Just like Christopher he's called to Denmark in 1439 to replace Erik, but here's the comparison end, Albert I of Denmark survive long enough to father a son and seing him become adult, and when he dies Albert is crowned King as the second Habsburg King of Denmark (and Sweden and Norway)*. Voila the Habsburgs is Kings of Denmark.

*This is the first time since in almost two centuries a clear succesion happen, when that happen for the Oldenburgs they stayed in power to today.

The trivial one:
King Christian 2 was married to Isabella (Elisabeth) of Burgundy. He was deposed 1523 but could have made a serious go at getting his Kingdom back instead of wavering back and forth and going for a half hearted attempt at Norway. (But getting Norway was essential as it secured the hereditary succession to the Danish throne, Denmark being an electoral Kingdom at the time)
If so as he only had girls as surviving issue one of those could have married another Habsburg making Denmark-Norway party to the Habsburg lands.
Simple!

Yes that's a possiblility too, of course whom will his daughters (primary Dorothea the oldest) marry, Maximillian II or Philip II. The problem is that both are 5 Years younger, but I could still see it happen. I would primary look toward Maximillian II, the marriage with Maria Manuela (Princess of Portugal) is simply to good a catch for Philip II was to good to pass up, so that leave Maximillian II, which is is a extreme good match for the Habsburgs, so one of Maxillian son will end up Emperor, King of Norway, Denmark, Germany, Bohemia and Hungary and Archduke of Austria, of course there's also good chance that he also end up King of Sweden. The Austrian Habsburgs will be a even bigger powerhouse than it was in OTL. Of course the Protestants is fucked if he can keep this, which I think is rather possible, Christian II will live until 1559, which will give him time to introduce the Counter-Reformation. Beside that purely genetic the Habsburg is better off with waiting one more generation before beginning the inbreeding (Maximillian II married his cousin in OTL, of course the question is whom she will marry)
