Challenge: Greater Mongolia

Communist Chinese loose the Chinese Civil War in 1948-1949, and thus they are restricted to Manchuria,as a result the Soviets occupy Inner Mongolia and East Turkestan, they allow socialist Mongolia to have Inner Mongolia.

The Soviet Union disintegrates much harder as in OTL, and looses many of it's ASSR's including the Tuvinian ASSR, which becomes an independent state.
After an economic crisis in Tuva a pan-mongolist party takes power and unites the country with Mongolia.

Our friend Roman Ungern von Sternberg somehow remain in power in Outer Mongolia. He also grab Tuva and force the Red Army to leave Mongolia alone. With Japanese support he grab Inner Mongolia in 1933 (when Japan took Manchuria). After WWII the a Soviet supported coup happens in Mongolia and Mongolia goes communist, before Mao has won the Chinese civil war. Because Stalin don't really trust Mao he allow the new Mongolian People's Republic to keep Inner Mongolia.

Alternate scenario; the baron do not become a Japanese ally, but is neutral in WWII, after the war he support the nationalists in the Chinese Civil War and help Chiang Kai-shek win. He keep Inner Mongolia as a spoil of war.
