Challenge: Give These One Hit/One Album Wonders Sustained Success

Stacy Q: Known for her single "Two of Hearts", she's now mainly known for her work as a dancer.

Turn her into a pop sensation that lasts throughout the 80s.

EMF: Band known for their hit "Unbelievable". Turn them into a band with a loyal fanbase, not necessarily a band with another major hit song.

Blues Traveller: Two hit wonders from the 90s. Make them a successful album-oriented band.

Daniel Powter: Known for "Had a bad day" and nothing else, really. Turn him into a pop star whose star lasts beyond "Have a Bad Day"

fun: Keep the lead singer in the band and make their sophomore album a success.

Goyte: Yeah, we all know what he's known for. This is a tall order. Turn him into an experimental musician who is well known for his artistic music videos.

Let's go.

I'll start with Blues Traveler and Goyte.

John Popper's weight was a major issue with Blues Traveler. BT's record label forces John Popper to lose weight or they will force the band to fire him. He loses the weight. His health improves and it helps him handle the stress of a second album a lot better. In the new Blues Traveler album, he incorporates a lot of Zydeco and swing sounds, which keeps the band relevant for a second album. For the 3rd album, they add a few New Orleans Jazz sounds. The Band becomes irrelevant a decade later, but spawns 3 successful albums.

Goyte: embraces his "weird music video" persona and produces a lot more weird music videos that go along with his experimental songs. He becomes an indie rock hit with a lot of crossover appeal.

Here's one you didn't mention: Have Bob Kuban and the In-Men, known for the song "The Cheater" have other hits; they're also known because of the horrible fate of their lead singer, Walter Scott...

EMF is tricky because there were so many currents working against them. The Madchester scene that spawned them abruptly died a few years after Unbelievable, and the arrival of Nirvana upended the alternative charts. Not to mention the general music public seems to have gotten sick of the musical trends of the 80s by that point.

However, you're asking for a loyal fan base, not aanother hit, and that's easier: change their second album to preserve their original sound instead of the darker, harder turn they actually took.

He did. Keep in mind he's one of those ones that had hits in his home country before making it in the US.
