Challenge: Failed Australian Revolution

The goal is to get a wide scale Communist (or Communist like) civil war in Australia and have the Revolutionaries be defeated.

PODs and resulting timelines do not have to be before 1900.

1523 the Mohogany ship surviviors move to the Condah Swamp, advancing Gundigmara civilisation with their tools and techniquies.

1627 Thiejessn sails to Cape Otway before turning back. Landing at Portland bay he learns of the hybrid Gundi-Portuguese settlement and checks it out. They do some trading.

1644 Abel Tasman charts the south coast of Australia, also makes contact with the Portu-Gundi.

1667 3 ships full of English colonist escaping the great plague land in the Moyne river, meet up with the Portu-Gundi.

1931 Communist roiting.

Working class

I think it is safe to say this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1949_Australian_coal_strike) is the closest we ever got. Apart from that, i doubt that it is possible without very early on POD's. (Remember, Australia doesn't really have a large enough working class for a real revolution).

More the point, the Australian working class was always too well off to generate enough rage for a revolution. Even in the worst of the Depression and the oft quoted 300,000 member Communist Party they couldn't get enough support to even raise a squeak.

More immigration to Australia and Monopolies take over and nothing is done about it. Would that work?
