I was reading the Endwar thread a couple days back and a few ideas came to mind about how worse European and American relations after World War II could result in a unified Europe possibly to fend off intervention or attacks from both the US and the Soviet Union, so my challenge is to create a POD in which this three way cold war could arise. How would nuclear weapons play a part in all of this, I'm pretty sure Europe could get nuclear weapons but how fast would probably depend on how fast they could recover from the war without the Marshall Plan. What countries would actually participate in a European Federation would be another point of debate. How Germany would be dealt with by a Unified Europe, America and Soviet Union would be a big one, I'm pretty sure the EF would want the Industrialized Ruhr region and the Soviets whatever they can get but this would still depend on however the alternate war goes. What Britan would do would be interesting also, trying to keep it's hold on it's imploding overseas empire and tring to save as much as possible before it's colonial holdings fall apart or joining in with the lot of the EF. The extent of the EF might be a good one, a defense treaty along the lines of NATO might get more members onboard and full federalization later on might be better. The forigen policies of the US, Soviet Union and Europe in places like South East Asia, the Middle East and Africa could conflict and in turn spark yet another war.
