Challenge: End the American Revolution as soon as possible with British Victory

How early and how could the American War of Independence be ended with a British Victory.

A POD before the beginning of the war is acceptable.

(Bonus points if you can include Pitt the elder somehow:D)

The Mystic River near Boston is charted properly; Howe is able to land troops behind the Colonists and totally defeat them. The Bostonions witnessing the battle see the Colonists surrendering ignominiously, and a delegation led by Benjamin Franklin pleads for a ceasefire. He goes to London and in discussions with the administration of Lord North gets the tax on tea repealed and the extension of the Bank of Englands operations to America to lend to merchants constrained by the mercantilist policies of the government.

Tax on tea?

I'd check some facts. The Boston tea party was not some popular event, it was the actions of a coalition of tea traders/ smugglers and some hired muscle protecting market share against the fact that the price of official imports dropping below their bottom line.

Pitt the Elder helps shape a compromise granting the colonists substantial self-representation and autonomy, in exchange for recognition of Parliamentary superiority.

What If? America has basically Dean_the_Younger's take on things. Pitt the Elder doesn't get as ill as in OTL, is able to persuade parliament to be less harsh on America in return for long-term profits, so America is happy. Means no Indian genocide as rate of expansion is controlled by Britain, there's no land grabs. I recommend the book, it's a good read. :)

Ahh yes, the Crown puts the rebellous colonists in their place and the native population of North America lives peacefully and thrives in the land, while benevolent Brittania manages their North American empire with wisdom and justice.

Pitt the elder is a bit more healthy. He manages the American situation a little more competently then te OTL parade of ministers. The north american colonies are granted more autonomy and eventual representation in Parliment. Taxes repealed for the most part, possibly with one or two remaining to make the compromise more palatable for the exchequer. Crisis defused.

Really, all you need is something along these lines

Rebels Routed

William Pitt the elder enjoys good health stays in power and Lord North gets no position or the Whigs form an Administration instead of Lord North

If the conflict starts, Corwallis is removed and doesn't retreat to Yorktown or if he does, the wind blows in another direction and the Royal Navy defeats De Grasse. As it was Britain lost politically rather than military in that Lord North fell after Yorktown. If the Whigs or moderate tories had been in power things would never have gone that far or do we say gotten?

However conflict may well have come with the abolition of slavery in the colonies. Maybe the USA would be Britains first dominion or representation at Westminster

France does better in the 7 years war. It keeps its new world colonies.

New England wants to keep the protection of the british troops and is willing to pay the light taxes required by england. The few who speak of breaking from the mother country are considered barking madmen or hunted down by King Geroges loyal subjects.

Of course, you could also manipulate the British response so they don't decide on a blanket response punishing an entire city.
