Cold War fiction often portrayed a future where the world was divided even further and more extreme than existed at the time, thinking that the divisions between East and West of the period could naturally evolve into that future. Features of such a world include East and West totally dividing the Earth in half like they were other planets, distinct and totally separate internal economies, total lack of communication between one another, and so on.
The challenge is to, within the timeframe of 1945 up to today, create such a world as best and as extreme as can be possibly done.
