Challenge: divide East Roman Empire

The factions to take East Roman lands:
- Ostrogoths
- Visigoths
- Vandals
- Gepids
- Lombards
- Huns
- Slavs

Example: Slavs take, Lombards take Macedonia, Ostrogoths Anatolia

From 395 to 500

Why not add the Persians?

They're likely to take a piece.

For sure, the Persians should be included to seize Mesopotamia.

Also, the regular Goths, they could possibly settle in/seize Thrace as an extension of their Crimean settling. The Huns IIRC ravaged the ERE but I don't know if they took land outright.

Mesopotamia was already Persian? Ö_o

And Egypt.

And they'd probably make a go of Anatolia as well.

Were the Sassanids really in a position to make those gains? I thought they were in state of civil war for most of the migration period.

Also the Arabs will probably be moving north due to population pressures.

Not necessarily -- compared to the old Parthians, the Sassanians were quite stable. That's how they managed to acquire so much territory in their war against Byzantium between 602 and 628.
If the Germans are raiding the Balkans, then the Neo-Persians will have a golden opportunity.

Not really, the Sasanians had their fair share of civil wars, usurpations and the like, by the 5th and 6th century you had a lot of trouble with the reign and succession of Yazdegerd I and the Hunnic invasions in Khorasan.

The Gotthokratia.

Ostrogothic 'Regency': The entire European side of ERE, ruled by Ostrogothic Magister-King from Thessaloniki, in the name of Emperor of Constantinople who is a powerless puppet.

Visigothic 'Excharcate' of Asia: Officially a vassal to the ERE, in reality, the Visigoths are rulers of most of Anatolia, with the exception of the Vandalic Kingdom of the Dodecanese and parts of southeastern Anatolia held by the Sassanids.

The Levant was annexed by the Sassanids, while Egypt rebelled and became the Sassanids protectorate. It was the loss of Egypt that triggered the Gothic usurpation of the remaining Empire.
