Challenge: Dictator world

have the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China, Japan, and Italy all become dictatorships by 2011.....and NO NAZI VICTORY!!!!!

Just off top of my head, we have the rumored coup against FDR succeed, so the US becomes first dictatorship. They support similar movements in other nations.

Admittedly rough but I've had a long week and my neurons are tired.

With a POD of 1929, nothing changes in the Soviet Union, China, Japan, and Italy. Both Germany and France subscribe to Fascism during the Depression, though the fascist party in Germany are not the Nazis.

WWII in the West is butterflied out, and the Depression continues into the 40s. Riots erupt in Britain, prompting the Prime Minister to ask the King for powers that closely mirrors his Italian counterpart.

The War in China continues into the 50s uninterrupted with no outside interference, thus continuing the status quo in China and Japan.

The US is the most difficult to make a dictatorship of the bunch, with all their checks and balances that their Constitution prescribes. I don't know, President Al Capone, anyone?

The 1956 crises in Hungary and Egypt spiral into WW3, and soon there's yet another bloody land war in Europe. The Red Scare is rejuvenated, forcing Eisenhower to gradually permit more and more parts of the Constitution to be trampled upon, resulting in a quasi-fascist regime with semi-free elections. A similar thing occurs in Britain and France. West Germany falls to the Red Army after a few tactical nukes disable Allied forces. Meanwhile, hard-line elements in the Japanese Self Defense Forces stage a coup against the elected government and promptly expel US forces.

That basically extinguishes democratic governments the world over.

Not only does it extinguish democracies across the world, it also extinguishes the world. Nuclear Holocaust anyone?

Hey, he did say only a few nukes. A whole lot more were blown up during testing in the 50s and 60s, and we turned up fine, right? :D

the problem is that NATO would obviously respond to "a few tactical nukes".....the Soviet Union would get smashed, america would be badly hurt....

here goes very little

1958 France is headed for a Coup, in OTL Charles de Gaulle took over and made himself Monarch... I mean President, so POD Charles de Gaulle dies, Military take over, a even more Conservative than OTL, war drags on in Algeria.
Student leftism across Europe is stronger and West German reactions to the emergency acts the Red Army Faction (or some one like them) are formed a little early, thanks to French troops in Germany and Paris's try to form a 3rd force (against the USSR/Eastern Block and US/UK) in Europe the "Gehlen Organisation" of Ex-Nazis/Neo-Nazis and other anti-Communists set up by the CIA as a behind the lines army in case of Communist take over is much stronger, a mix of Student riots/protest, a few RAF bombing, SDP's first post war election win and a push from France (and a few key in CIA leadership) and the stay-behind army pulls off a coup. the US (under Nixon or a Kennedy) are not happy with it but agree to go along so thanks to French and America military support (and the British going along)
in Italy political chaos is much like OTL in the late 1970s the USSR rather mad that in the 1950s and 1960s they lost two of the strongest Communist/Leftist movements in Europe has been pouring funds into Italy's Communist Party while the KGB has been training and funding Red Brigades. a try by the Christian Democrats to Bring the Communists in from the cold leads to a panic in the US (well the CIA) and they green light Operation Gladio

Thanks to 1950s PODs the USSR's leadership is generally better and it lasts
in China the post Mao Years sees the Left wing (OTL's Gang of Four) wins out the PCR becomes a super version of 1980s Libya founding left wing terrorist all over the world leading us to the UK and Japan
In the face of growing IRA terrorism and Japanese Red Army terrorism founded by Leftist China from during the mid-70s-80s more and more repressive anti-terror laws are passed while nether are true Dictatorships they are much like the US in 2003 the media and much of the public behind (or scared not to be) the Government, the Troy and LDP government's openly saying voting for the other guy is voting for terrorism

got no ideas for the US

Not overly, actually the nuclear balance was in the Wests, or at least, the U.S favour all the way until probably the late 60's. Parity wasn't even really achieved until the early to mid 70's IIRC,so assuming Operation: Dropshot scenario, the damage to Europe would be worse. That's not to say a few Soviet bombers couldn't get through, but I would think no more than a few if its in the time frame of the Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line.
