Challenge/Collaborative Timeline

Using any non-Batty POD's after Janurary 1st, 1775, make the world look like this by the year 1901. You can change the histories and personalities of some people as little as profoundly as you like. For example, you could have Italy retain control of Corsica for an extra few years, thereby having Napoleon be born as an Italian, not as a Frenchman.

The collaborative timeline part is that you should be trying to make all the POD's posted by other people sync up nicely.

For the record, in case the map isn't totally clear on the matter: Hawai'i is still independent, there appear to be no European colonial holdings in China, and France does control Corsica by 1901.

Aaaaaaand....go!

You may need to move to POD back a bit - to the Franco-Prussian war. French victory may give that border.

I don't see the British giving up Sri Lanka to the French. This scenario will require alot of ASB's.

Again, post-1870's there is no way France could gain the maritimes either.

As for the Spanish parts of Africa, you only need a different dissection of Africa. An enlargenment of the Spanish Protectorate will account for some of that.

I'm afraid though, that no clear, single POD may be possible.

A post-1775 POD where Canada is english but the Maritimes french borders on the impossible; the ethnic makeup of the colonies just couldn't; at this point you have a quarter million frenchmen under british rule and 120.000 tory-amicable brits under french rule. Plus a vast expanse populated by beavers and about another 100k natives, a quarter of which are metis

The french border could be feasible if either Talleyrand manages to be even more magnificent AND Napoleon kicks it (thus making Russia's position weaker and leading to Austria being more amenable to a strong France as an ally) in 1814. Or with a different Napoleonic scenario.

Thinking of it, the French border in Europe is 1793 with no Napoleon.

Unless the Colombians and the Ecuadorians went to war over a piece of the Amazon smaller than Jamaica, the Ecuadorian border in the east is too far north - it only reached the Napo river through most of its length.

California as a colonial power is outright ASB though IMO, it was a gold rush area and would only be viable after major development projects undertaken in the 20th century. Especially not one that can beat Spain.

On that note, Spain is in for massive amounts of pain in Morocco; they needed french help for the Rif wars IOTL and an all-out Moroccan revolution will probably break the spanish government.
