Challenge: Chinese imperial restoration post-WWII

No nukes or WWIII allowed, bonus points if Pu Yi is the one who gets his throne back. Double bonus if before 1976, triple bonus if under a KMT rather than a CCP regime.

well... of course you need to keep the Communists down, Pu Yi after 1945 is a no go, um er, lets see, the nationalists never go north, the Commies are stuck up there, any ways the nationalists were kind of a royal family sooooo with-out the main-land playing "big bad wolf" maybe Chiang Kai-shek makes himself Emperor...

ok thought some more about it here's my try:

rather than getting jumped by Russian Paratroopers Pu Yi makes it to Japan and turns himself in to the Americans, they put him on trial for War Crimes, he gets off and moves to America living as a minor celebrity, the civil war goes like OTL, Mao wins but unlike OTL he's way more pissed at America for letting Pu Yi off and giving him a way to live rich, their is no Nixon opening China and the Cultural Revolution isn't much worse, when Mao dies the PCR falls into a civil war between the left-wing mass movement heirs of Mao and the right wingers in the Army, mean while in time the books of Pu Yi (a book about his reign, a book about the Emperor being a uniting symbol, and a book about the reforms he would of undertaken if he had been of majority) have become wildly popular in Taiwan, Pu Yi having never been in a Communist jail he's healthy, as the main-land rips itself apart he becomes the face of unity in China going to Taiwan to speak at a number of mass rallies, before the KMT lands military forces on the main-land where the vast majority of Chinese are happy to kick the waring Communists to the curb, thus an aging Pu Yi reunites the Country in late 1976 :p

It's been suggested before that if the US gets into Manchuria before the Soviets do, that Pu-Yi could be used as an anti-communist puppet. Though he'd probably only end up ruling Manchuria still.
