CHALLANGE: make this flag a reality

as it says on the tin make this country exist in a stable fashion :D

Since I'm only able to spot Poland, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Papal See within all those symbols, I'm going to go ahead and say that the Universal Empire of Otto III somehow succeeds...

In that case a lot of Coat of Arms present in that flag wouldn`t develop, as they appeared much later. Given that there are CoAs of P-L Commonwealth and Duchy of Prussia PoD would be 17th century, at least. As such - this flag is ASB. Also, there seems to be 2 Imperial two-headed eagles, and 2 one headed German eagles on one flag, which doesn`t make much sense.

Could it be the flag of a Neo-Monarchist, Pan European Empire, twenty years after the Third World War...only problem is that it only controls Sealand and thus is not recognised on the international stage...yet. :p

It's the official team flag of the Holy League racing chariot (RASCHAR) team, featuring all of its national sponsors.

I was kinda thinking of some form of inter-marriage with the HRE to begin with then it turning into some form of majority proto Northern European Union after a beat down on France severs the northern cost to Brittany and is joined to the union ..

I'm sorry, von. You may have posted the image, but I think Geekhis Khan has the indubitably correct answer. :p:D

i humbly concede you are more then likely correct.. i just spent a few hours making the flag and thought it was cool and was trying to think up a coherent timeline that could explain it ... :D

1: No nation would ever use a flag with that many coats of arms on it.
2: It has a combination of full coats of arms with shield, crest, motto, etc and small ones, i.e. just shields.
3: My heraldry isn't good enough to know every coat of arm present!

Well I can tell you that the crests in the black stripes essentially play out as a who's-who of the Holy Roman Empire states plus the Netherlands. You've got all the big ones in there. Prussia/Brandenburg, Bavaria, Saxony, Hanover, Mecklemburg, Mainz, Trier, Brabant, Guelderland (I think), Lorraine...everyone who is anyone really. Around the outsides you've got the epic Hapsburg shield linked above, possibly the shield of Mattias Corvinus there next to it (well, it shows his kind of territories...Croatia, Hungary, Ragusa, Transylvania, all the rest), you've got the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth next, then what is I think the current Danish royal crest. I don't recognise the bottom left though it might be Belgium considering the motifs. Then you have the Papal crest, the Dutch royal crest and the last two I don't recognise though those lions are somewhat Netherlands-esque in style so they might be Stadtholderates. Finally, to top it off, is the Russian double-headed eagle in the centre.

I see Belgium on there. That would mean a PoD in the 19th century. Which would be quite ASB to say the least.

But, for arguments sake it could be the flag of an insane German monarch somewhere whom after studying his family tree came to the conclusion that he is in fact the legitimate ruler of the HRE and all of the lands it ever claimed, and that he also holds the thrones of Poland and Denmark. The man also obviously believed god spoke to him on a regular basis, since he also thinks he is the real pope.

This is the new national flag for all purposes introduced by this monarch for use by his newly declared "empire" (which really only covered a couple of small towns and villages in southern Germany) two weeks before he was ousted in a popular revolt and replaced by a much more liberal and less crazy Hohenzollern prince imported from Prussia.
