CH: Soviet Anthem on Pop Charts

Specifically, a remake of the Soviet Anthem must be in the top 40s at sometime in the United States during the late 20th or in the early 21st century. Now, obviously this requires either the USA is Communist, or has much more friendly relations with the USSR, but this is a challenge for a reason. So, can you do it?

I don't think it requires either of those things. It's a catchy tune and could easily be turned into a chart-friendly song by the right musical minds, in all manner of genres. Listen to the rock versions of the Russian National Anthem (same thing) to see what I mean.

Well, okay, should I have said is relatively lyrically similar? To be fair, Imagine got in the pop charts I think, and that song is basically the Communist Manifesto. So... yeah, I guess you could, just take a musical version that isn't too threatening.

Crazy European disco remix whenever.

(Dammit, now I have Soviet anthem disco remix stuck in my head).

Ah, this is actually easier than I thought, although I'm curious if that would have any long lasting impact or if it would just be another pop song.

Soyuz Nerushimy....a hit song...

Okay....Hmm....I think this could work in the "Red Dawn" timeline pretty nicely.

But what type of music is the question here.

There's a lot of ways this could work..

A beautiful power ballad. A sensual beautiful vehicle for a starlet.

Perhaps a real AltHist turnabout...and "Soyuz Nerushimy" becomes a Nashville anthem. (Imagine Big and Rich doing this on their album, "We're Coming To Your Oblast")

Hmm....I have to think about this...tovarish :)
