CH: Save Alan Turing

I wonder what would be the influence of a surviving Turing on the incoming space race. The Lunar Module computer merely matched a modern day cheap calculator (of the kind offered for free with soap or cereals, see what I mean). Any help there would be welcomed !
Spacecraft computers need to be rad-hardened though, which means increases in cost, and decreases in power.

Removing Maxwell-Fyfe as Home Sec would help. It won't get it legalised in the 50's, but it will stop the stepped up persecution that occurred.

And Herbert Morrison in the '40s, I believe I read something in Andrew Marr's book about him persecuting homosexuals as he felt they'd be prone to blackmail from the Communists.

Because Russian guys are especially hot?

No, but because homosexuality could get you fired, ostracized, among a host of other things in the 1950s to a ridiculous level, meaning it was sadly potent blackmail material.

Now, the real solution would be to cut down on homophobia, but I guess that just wasn't acceptable compared to firing rather essential homosexuals.
